As a founding member of the DVD+RW alliance, Ricoh demonstrated its latest DVD+RW/+R drive. Ricoh's belief is that although the +R/+RW format is newer than the -R/-RW, it has shown a very fast market growth and soon will be the standard format for DVD recording. The MP5240A-DP supports 4x DVD+R and DVD+RW writing speeds and 8x DVD reading. The drive also offers 24x CD-R, 10x CD-RW and 40x CD reading. The MP5240-DP uses chipsets and pickup mechanism manufactured by Ricoh itself, as it was also the case in its previous models.

Ricoh seems to expand its product line with new digital cameras, TFT monitors and video projectors. It seems the same tactic is being followed by many other manufacturers such as Waitec, Teac, Plextor, and others.
