The Philips DVDR1640P can report PI and Jitter values from burned DVD recordable/re-writable media. What's rather disappointing is that the drive cannot read the media at high speeds, since even at 8X reading speed, the real speed is around 0.5~1.3X. The scanning interval is also not 1ECC but 8ECC, dropping the accuracy of the drive, since the sample count is low.

Please note that the posted results are only valid for the specific tested Philips DVDR1640P DL drive. Using other DVDR1640P DL drives can produce totally different results. Be aware!

#3nd Test Disc - PISum8/PIF Comparison - 8X Reading speed

The DVDR1640P read the disc at an extremely low speed of 0.3~0.5X. The reported PI error rates are very low in both graphs, indicating a perfect disc. The reported DC Jitter from the drive is not too close to the SA300.
