- Writing Tests

We burned two DVD+R DL discs with DVD-Video content. The source disc was "Gladiator Movie - Special Edition" disc1 with a total size of 6.86GB. First, we transferred the movie to the hard disc with DVD Decrypter in ISO format (single file). Afterwards, we used CopyToDVD, latest available version at the time of the review. After choosing the "GLADIATOR.ISO" image we selected the LiteON SOHW-1693S recorder.

The writing process was finished after 22:43minutes. The average speed was 3.91X as reported by CopyToDVD software.

  • Ridisc +R Double Layer media @ 4X

The writing process was finished after 22:43minutes. The average speed was 3.91X.

  • Traxdata +R Double Layer media @ 4X

The writing process was finished after 22:45 minutes. The average speed was 3.90X.

  • Verbatim +R Double Layer media @ 4X

The writing process was finished after 22:30minutes. The average speed was 3.89X.

  • Verbatim -R Double Layer media @ 4X

The writing process was finished after 23:21minutes. The average speed was 3.72X. The -R DL media support feature is the drive's main addition to the previous LiteOn releases. In the following page we will take a closer look at the quality of the specific burn, as well as all the other DL media burned.

For comparison reasons, we post DL burning times for other writers, with the same disc content and same recording software:
