9. HLDS PortableDVD

Last we can find an already tested drive from HLDS the PortableDVD with its impressive small dimensions and overall weight.

The drive is manufactured July 2020 compared with the much older drives being used in the external drives we bought over Amazon.com.

The internal are impressive with very small dimensions.

Totally different PCB board for this drive. We could like at next revisions to have typeC connection for easier connectivity even the retail package includes both TypeC and USB cables.

The HLDS PortableDVD has the codename GP96YB70

The drive supports C1C2 and PIE/PIF error measurements with the OptiDriveControl software or compatible application

The drive is advertised as USB2.0 compatible and we confirmed it.

Using the latest EAC (Exact Audio Copy) software we are able to detect important drive features, especially concerning Audio CD Ripping. The drive does seem to support C2 error info and does Cache Audio which will result in lower ripping speeds.
