BitTorent has opened the BitTorrent Live Beta to everyone, offering users with mobile video or webcams a new way to live broadcast news and stories. BitTorrent Live is a new web-based live streaming technology. Designed to eliminate barriers to broadcast, Live is an entirely new protocol, designed to deliver high quality video to large audiences - with significant reduction in infrastructure cost and network delays.

BitTorrent Live is a peer-to-peer live streaming protocol and it's based on the principles of the BitTorrent protocol. It has been designed to make real-time reporting, and open expression. BitTorrent claims the new platform eliminates bandwidth, cost, and infrastructure as broadcast barriers. The more people that tune in, the more resilient your stream.

Since November, BitTorent has been working with a number of digital creators and broadcasters in a closed Beta program.
