We plugged the USB flash drive in our test system and it was recognized without the need of any additional drivers. As we said earlier, it includes several pictures and comments from the "The GodFather" movie with total size of 2.24MB (17 files).

Let's fire up some benchmarks. We used HD Tach v3.0.1.0 and selected the full length test, that will give us an idea of the performance of the USB memory:

The full bench tests the entire memory of the module and graphically illustrates the average reading/writing performance.

Although we enabled the "Write Test" option, we did not get any report about the writing performance of the drive. This is a rather strange behavior and it seems that the software somehow could not delete the entire volume of the disc.On the other hand, the reading test gave an adequate 21MB/sec.

The specific reading result was also confirmed by the Sisoft Sandra Software:

We also ran the HD Tune Pro 3.50 software but still, we had not any better luck with the writing tests. Reading however was again at 20 MB/sec:

Finally, we used two more benchmark utilities in order to have a better idea of the overall performance.

The ATTO Disk Benchmark reports the transfer rates of the flash memory using files of different sizes. For instance, the 8MB file test gave rather optimistic results; an average reading of 30MB/sec and 25MB/sec for writing:

The CrystalDiskMark utility reported 31.73MB/sec and 17.58MB/sec reading/writing performance:
