Teac DV-W50D and Memorex Dual-X1 - Page 11

CD Recording Tests

We used the latest version Nero Burning Rom. Teac DV-W50D supports the 16x, 12x, 8x, and 4x Z-CLV writing speeds. The following screenshot comes from Nero CDSpeed writing simulation test with a blank 700MB CD-R disc. The drive starts writing at 16x and keeps this speed constant for the whole writing process, confirming the manufacturers specifications.

The following picture comes from Nero and illustrates all the available writing speeds for Teac.

Memorex Dual-X1 supports the 16x, 12x, 8x, and 4x CLV writing speeds. We used the same blank 700MB CD-R disc and we test the writing performance of the drive at maximum speed. The reported average writing speed was over 16X, which is accordant with the drive's specifications.

All the available writing speeds of Memorex are illustrated on the next screenshots from Nero.

- Recording Tests

We created a 80min data compilation in Nero Burning Rom burned it to a 700MB disc. Teac DV-W50D and Memorex Dual-X1 use CLV writing method. The reported burn time is almost the same at 329sec for Teac and 326sec for Memorex.

Below are Teac DV-W50D and Memorex Dual-X1 in all the available writing speeds during the burning of a 80min data compilation with Nero Burning Rom.

As we can see in the diagram above the difference between the two drives is very little. Memorex was a little faster than Teac for about 3-5 sec in all speeds.

- HS-RW Writing Tests

We used Nero Burning Rom for writing CDs in the maximum RW speed. Both drives supports 24X rewriting speed.
