Philips ships new Audio CD recorders at CES

Philips ships new Audio CD recorders at CES

General Interest Jan 8,2002 0

Featuring the best in audio CD recording technology, Philips Consumer Electronics showcased its fourth generation of Audio CD Recorders (ACDR) today at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The Philips ACDR lineup utilizes a variety of enhanced technologies, offering consumers a balanced mix of easy-to-use components designed to create personalized CDs from virtually any audio source. The four-product lineup – including the CDR820, CDR800, CDR778 and CDR600 – features everything from a starter unit to a state-of-the-art CD recorder, highlighted by super-fast, four-times (4x) recording as well as MP3-CD playback. All boast Bitsync recording technology for incredibly accurate copies.

“Philips continues to provide consumers with technologies that allow them to customize their entertainment experience. The addition of MP3-CD playback to our ACDR line is another example of our dedication to providing consumers with the features they want,” said Michael Lang, general manager, audio/video, Philips Consumer Electronics, North America. “Our line provides consumers with several options. So whether they're buying their first ACDR or looking to upgrade their current system, we have a component that fits their needs.”

The flagship CDR820 features Philips' super-fast 4x recording system, allowing the user to record personalized music mixes quickly and easily. Armed with a three-disc changer and multi-format recording and playback compatibility – MP3-CD, CD, CD-R and CD-RW – the CDR820 offers easy access to a variety of source material for speedy recordings, while also providing for hours of listening enjoyment. To help personalize your CDs, the CDR820 includes a stereo microphone input for voice recording and a PC keyboard input for customizing CD text. The CDR820 integrates two high-performance analog-digital and digital-analog converters designed to deliver superior audio reproduction and recording quality.

Available now, the CDR820 has an MSRP of $499.

An ACDR Deck for Every Lifestyle
Philips' 2002 ACDR lineup also includes three other varied models, all currently available. The CDR600 single-deck recorder carries the most affordable price point yet for Philips ACDR; the CDR600 has a suggested retail price of $249. The dual-deck CDR778, has a suggested retail of $349 and features CD-to-CD recording and independent playback from each deck. And similar to the flagship CDR820, the CDR800 incorporates a three-disc CD changer, MP3-CD playback and 2x recording speed. It has a suggested retail of $449.

State-of-the-art Technology Creates Perfect CD Reproduction Philips' ACDR lineup features state-of-the-art technology, including Bitsync recording for a perfectly recorded product every time. Bitsync recording reproduces digital copies of the original CD source material. In addition to offering adjustable analog and digital recording levels, each ACDR also integrates an automatic digital level control for compilation CDs.

Additionally, the Philips user interface has been updated to simplify the recording process. Now it's only a matter of pushing a few buttons to copy or compile a CD. Further, all Philips’ ACDRs offer CD-text features; users no longer need to look-up track information on their source materials – they simply need to choose a track by name from the display, directly from the disc. The display can show both artist and title for the entire album – or for individual tracks. This convenient feature allows users to compile their own text information for a perfectly customized playback display.
