WAITEC has set a new standard in CD-Rewriter technology. The company is introducing a long awaited DVD writer for PC, which works with re-writableoptical DVD disks. DVD seems to be the next logical step in data storage, audio and video and is the fastest growing consumer electronics product ever launched. Users can now make their own DVDs and CDs, which can be played back on any standard DVD or CD player. Naturally, the Waitec® X-File™ handles any shop-bought DVD and CD title. Input from a wide range of source scan easilybe imported to the X-File, Such As Digital Video Cameras, PC web camera’s, the Internet or your hard disc. At the same time WAITEC announces the introduction of DVD+RW media with up to 4.7 GB storage (DVDRW4WT). DVDs are read at 8x and re-written at 2.5x. Further features include a 2MB Buffer and upgradable firmware. CD reading, writing and rewriting speed is 32x12x10x. An upgrade for DVD+R writing will be available at the start of 2002. X-File works with MS-DOS, Windows 95/98/2000 and XP. SafeLink technology makes buffer under runs practically impossible. Firmware is stored in Flash ROM, making future upgrades convenient. The burning process may be stopped and started several times during a single session without negative consequences. The ideal burn speed is determined for each individual CD and adapted where necessary.
