Moto X Available From All Carriers For USD 399

Moto X Available From All Carriers For USD 399

Smartphones Jan 1,2014 0

After initially launching in August at $579, starting from today, Motorola is offering Moto X at an everyday starting price of $399 on any major US carrier, without a contract. This includes customized devices. The Moto X can be customized through the Moto Maker customization tool, enabling users to choose from hundreds of color combinations and, for the first time, real bamboo backs (an $100 extra).

Since its introduction, Motorola has also engineered Moto X to go all day long. The phone is also the first that received the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade.

Today several wireless carriers offer good month-to-month or prepaid service plans that cost much less than the contract plans that come with subsidized devices. Such a plan can be combined with the new $399 everyday pricing, saving you save dollars over two years while keeping the freedom to change your service provider.

The new pricing puts the Moto X in competition against Google's Nexus 5, which runs $349 to $399 unlocked, depending on internal storage space.

In related news, Best Buy has confirmed that it's already selling the Verizon edition of the Motorola Moto G budget smartphone in its retail stores at $100 off-contract.
