AMD introduced the new Mobile AMD Sempron processor 3000+ for thin and light notebooks, expanding the popular product family that has redefined everyday computing for today’s mobile lifestyle with AMD’s latest technology.

In addition to offering best-in-class performance, this full-featured mobile processor also offers Enhanced Virus Protection (EVP) designed to prevent the spread of certain malicious viruses when enabled by Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).*

“Mobile AMD Sempron processors provide the performance and features required by today’s on-the-go consumers who expect reliable computing and Internet access everyday, everywhere,” said Marty Seyer, corporate vice president and general manager, Microprocessor Business Unit, Computation Products Group, AMD. “Along with increasing Internet usage comes the potential for greater exposure to viruses, so AMD has equipped all the Mobile AMD Sempron processors with cutting-edge security for protection and peace of mind made possible by EVP and SP2.” The new Mobile AMD Sempron processor 3000+ for thin and light notebooks offers the freedom of true mobility with extended system battery life enabled by AMD PowerNow!™ advanced power management technology. Like all AMD mobile processors, the Mobile AMD Sempron processor 3000+ also helps consumers and business professionals stay connected from virtually anywhere thanks to compatibility with today’s most popular wireless solutions, including wireless LAN 802.11a, b and g.

New notebook PCs based on the Mobile AMD Sempron processor 3000+ are expected from Packard Bell and Gericom in time for the holiday shopping season.

"The Packard Bell EasyNote E6 series, based on the Mobile AMD Sempron processor, provides a full mobile multimedia platform for consumers to play, manage and share all their photos, videos and music through a powerful and easy-to-use interface," said Louis Perrin, product marketing director, Packard Bell. "In conjunction with Microsoft Windows Home Edition incorporating Service Pack 2 and AMD Enhanced Virus Protection, these features bring to Packard Bell EasyNote E6 series users a complete and more secure computing experience."

“The new Blockbuster Advance Excellent 7000 notebook is a breakthrough in mobile computing,” said Nils Rabens, head of Sales and Marketing for Gericom. “Based on the latest Mobile AMD Sempron processor, this full-featured notebook represents the ideal interaction between performance, battery life and best price; excellent for the everyday needs of on-the-go users.”

The Packard Bell EasyNote E6 notebook is expected to be available from Packard Bell in France, Italy, Spain, Nordic countries and the UK later this month. Gericom is planning to offer the Blockbuster Advance Excellent 7000 notebook in Germany this month.

Other global OEMs currently offering Mobile AMD Sempron processor-based notebooks include Acer, Epson Direct Corporation, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, and Sharp.
