Fujitsu offers DVD-R/RW drive with LifeBook C series notebook

General Interest Oct 30,2002 0

Fujitsu PC Corporation (FPC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited, today unveiled the next generation of its LifeBook® C Series notebook. Stylishly designed for students, business professionals and aspiring movie directors, this new all-in-one desktop replacement starts at $1,399(1) and features several multimedia enhancements, including an optional DVD-RW drive, to foster creativity without straining the pocketbook. Fujitsu is one of the first manufacturers to offer a notebook with an integrated DVD-RW drive. Users can now write and rewrite to spacious 4.70GB DVD-R and DVD-RW media as well as CD-Rs and CD-RWs. They can download home movies from their digital video camera and burn them onto a DVD or they can burn music and data onto a CD.

The notebook also features the latest Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor - M and an ATI® Mobility RADEON(TM) graphics chip with up to 64MB of selectable shared UMA graphics memory. This combination offers the right amount of resources to tackle video editing, computer gaming and general business applications. A large and bright 15-inch display adds to the experience, bringing multimedia to vivid life whether the user is on a plane or at his or her desk.

"The LifeBook C Series notebook artfully blends style with functionality at an affordable price," said Sara Nelson, vice president of marketing, Fujitsu PC Corporation. "From business professionals who need a powerful desktop replacement to home users and students who are looking for an easy-to-use multimedia system, the latest C Series notebook with its rich feature set will please the most discriminating users."

To further increase its versatility, the C Series notebook is equipped with a MemoryStick(TM) / SecureDigital (SD) slot, four USB 2.0 ports and an IEEE 1394 port, enabling users to transfer photos, music and home movies from their portable devices in record time.

The C Series notebook also makes accessing the Internet a cinch. No matter what environment users happen to be in, they can stay connected with the C Series notebook's built-in modem, Ethernet port and optional wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b). Four programmable one-touch buttons get users up on the Web, checking e-mail and opening other applications quickly and easily. These same buttons can also be used to control the CD player.

The system comes preinstalled with Microsoft Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Professional. It is now available through various retail and online outlets as well as direct at www.fujitsupc.com or 1-877/FPC-DIRECT.
