Sony will soon start selling in Japan the SR-64HXA, a 64GB micro SDXC memory card that is supposed to produce less electrical noise when reading data. Priced at $155 (¥18,500) -- roughly five times the cost of a standard card with the same amount of storage -- the SR-64HXA features a golden-lettered "for Premium Sound" tagline and is definitely aimed at serious audiophiles.

We are not sure whether Sony's new product actually make the difference in terms of offering "cleaner" sound palyback, as media players use their internal buffer in order to and minimize the cause for any related electrical noise.

But since many "premium" sound products are betting on the placebo effect, the new micro SDXC card could have chances to be purchased by audio freaks.
