The next product was found over AliExpress from an unknown Chinese manufacturer and it's priced around 16 Euro, making it more affordable, however... it's massive in volume. The product is described as M.2-THREE M2 2280 Solid State Hard Disk Heat Sink with Fan SSD Radiator Aluminum Heatsink Cooling Thermal Pad for PC. The product aims mostly for M2280 NVME SSDs.

Opening the product unveils its contents, which aren't many, just four thermal pads with different thicknesses.

The overall size of the M.2-Three NVME SSD is 74.5 x 35.5 x 82 mm, and compared with the previous product, it's massive. There is a 60X60X10mm fan that has a rotational speed of 3000±10% RPM, a maximum air volume of 14 CFM, a maximum air pressure of 1.33 mmH2O, and a noise of 25.4 dBA. The total weight is around 113gr.

The product follows the same design as the Grauger NVME SSD but includes a much bigger fan and fin area. Two heat pipes are directly embedded in the CNC aluminum block and transfer heat from the NVME to the fins.

Users can either use the product without any fan (passive and total width of 24.5mm)

or with the included fan that can be mounted in both sides of the fin tower.

The fin was designed, supposed to help quickly dispass heat.

Features

  • Multiple ways to use it. Installed/not installed on both sides of the fan. The design essence of M.2-THREE lies in its changeable installation methods, which can meet the use of most motherboards and try to avoid interference with other hardware in the chassis.
  • Nickel-plated heat pipe + CNC contact surface. The third-generation copper tube process, nickel-plated heat pipe is anti-oxidative and anti-corrosion, and the contact surface is CNC finished, flat and accurate
  • Tower cooling. Heat pipe + heat sink + fan, the heat of the hard disk is quickly transferred to the heat pipe through the high-quality thermal conductive paste and aluminum blocks, the heat pipe absorbs heat, and the heat is quickly dissipated through the fan to ensure the normal operation of the hard disk\
  • High-quality thermal paste * 2. High-quality thermal paste not only protects the hard drive but also conducts heat quickly, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the hard drive

Specifications

  • Model: M.2-Three
  • Color: black
  • Cooling method: active cooling
  • Rated voltage: DC12V
  • Rated current: 0.08A
  • Input power: 0.96W
  • Fan speed: 3000RPM
  • Maximum air volume: 14CFM
  • Maximum wind pressure: 1.33mmH2O
  • Noise level: 25.4dBA(MAX)
  • Application: 2280 solid state drive
  • Size: 74.5*24.5(35.5)*82mm
  • Net weight: 113g

The installation process is very easy, just use the included screwdriver to remove the four side screws and remove the top of the cooler, apply the thin thermal paste at the bottom and the "fat" upon the NVME SSD, and re-assemble the whole package together. Insert the package at an empty NVME slot and secure the drive. At the end install the PWM fan cable at any 4-pin empty slot at your motherboard.

With the previous setup, this massive NVME SSD simply cannot fit at the "stock" gap, at least with the included fan. We feel that this product if used with a water cooling solution, that frees up space around the CPU area, can be installed and work with massive graphic cards, like an NVIDIA 4090.

Removing the included 60mm fan, you can fit the M2-Three passive cooler even in tight spaces, which is a good thing.
