From the classroom to the boardroom, the new LV-X4 micro-portable projector from Canon provides users with increased flexibility and brightness making it an ideal selection for most any environment; particularly small rooms. Integrated with a high-precision ultra wide-angle lens, 1.6x optical zoom, and short throw distance with the ability to display a 100-inch diagonal image from only 8.2 feet, Canon's new projector offers enhanced applications for educators, business professionals and home users. The new LV-X4 micro-portable projector, which will replace Canon's existing LV-X2 model, weighs just 6.4 pounds, features an XGA resolution of 1024x768 and supports an SXGA resolution through high-quality compression. In addition, the LV-X4 unit offers improved brightness, featuring 1500 ANSI lumens, an increase from 1100 ANSI lumens offered with the LV-X2.

"The new Canon LV-X4 projector offers users a compact unit with a suite of high-end features at a practical price," said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE CAJ). "For teachers in the classroom, business executives on the go, and consumers looking to build their home theater, our newest projector provides high-quality performance and functionality in a micro-portable package suitable for all users' needs."

For classroom applications, the LV-X4 is the first Canon projector to offer a blackboard mode, which provides teachers and lecturers that do not have access to a screen with the convenience of projecting directly onto the blackboard or chalkboard.

Additional features include a 400:1 contrast ratio, 90% image uniformity and digital keystone adjustment with +/-20 degrees (vertical). The new unit is also equipped with progressive scan circuitry, which converts 480i/575i signal to progressive, as well as the option for a customizable logo display. The LV-X4 projector operates at 36 dB in silent mode.

By connecting the new LV-X4 projector with a Canon camcorder or digital camera, users have the ability to create high-impact presentations for any environment. For added versatility, Canon's LV-X4 projector can be connected to a variety of other devices including: desktop and laptop computers (using standard VGA input), document cameras, DVD players or VCRs, using S-Video and RCA terminals, or component via VGA to component adaptor cable. A wireless remote control, user-friendly on-screen display menu, and available USB mouse control, enhance operation function and ease. The unit is also equipped with pin code and key lock functions, which prevent unauthorized users from using the projector.

The Canon LV-X4 projector will be available in August at authorized Canon dealers, with a suggested list price of $1,999.
