DVD+RW Alliance announced 4X writing speed for DVD+RW format!

DVD+RW alliance announced the adoption of 4X writing/re-writing speeds for the DVD+R and DVD+RW formats. With the increased writing speeds, a full 4.7GB disc can be written at 15mins. The first drives that will support the new speeds are expected end of this year. In addition, the DVD+RW alliance announced the support of 8cm DVD+R/+RW media with capacity of 1.46GB. This media could be used in Digital Videocameras. Currently, Hitachi uses DVD-RAM for storage media in some of their top DV cameras... NULL
