General Interest May 15,2002 0

The Recordable DVD Council (RDVDC), which promotes the recordable DVD formats of the DVD Forum, held its first annual General Meeting today, in Tokyo. The Council announced that Mr. Bon-Guk Koo, an executive advisor of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., has been re-elected as Chairman of RDVDC and that Dr. Shyh-Yeu Wang, R&D director of RiTEK Corporation, has been appointed Deputy-Chairman. "The Recordable DVD Council has held six seminars in Japan, sponsored a joint Pavilion at the Fall COMDEX in Las Vegas, and launched other promotional activities in 2001," said Mr. Koo. "The Council's membership has grown from 58 to 87 companies since the RDVDC was established a year ago, making it the largest recordable DVD industry alliance among similar kinds of promotional groups. This is proof that our activities have been supported by the industry and we are proud of it.

Starting our second year, we welcome Dr. Wang of RiTEK Corporation as our Deputy-Chairman. We believe that recordable DVD Market will accelerate in 2002 and we will continue to aggressively pursue our promotional activities."

"It is an honor to play a major role in the Recordable DVD Council, which is the only promotional organization to cover all Recordable DVD formats recognized by the DVD Forum," said the newly appointed Dr. Wang. "As the largest recordable optical disc manufacturer in the world, we expect to contribute more towards the activities of the RDVDC."

After March 2002, Kyushu Matsushita Electric Co., Ltd., Matsushita Kotobuki Electronics Industries, Ltd, Denon Ltd. and DISC, Incorporated joined RDVDC raising the Council's strength to 87 members. There are 55 members in Japan, 17 in the USA, 13 in Asia and 2 in Europe.

The DVD Forum is an industry association whose more than 230 members include all major DVD manufacturers as well as major DVD software developers and DVD media producers around the world. For more information, visit www.dvdforum.org.

The RDVDC is dedicated to advancing DVD forum-standard recordable DVD technologies and products worldwide. It provides education, fosters the exchange of information and stimulates new applications. For more information, visit the Council's website at http://www.rdvdc.org/english
