AUO Develops 1.4-inch Full Circle AMOLED Display

AUO Develops 1.4-inch Full Circle AMOLED Display

Enterprise & IT Jun 4,2015 0

AU Optronics has developed an 1.4-inch full circle AMOLED display that has ultra low power consumption that meets the power-saving demand for wearable devices. The display was awarded with the 2015 SID Best in Show Award during the Society for Information Display (SID) event.

AUO's 1.4-inch full circle AMOLED display, with its 400 x 400 high resolution, ultra slim and light, wide color gamut and low power consumption features, was acknowledged for being able to meet the trends of wearable devices.

The display, which is currently in mass production, was made by applying special cut and driver IC design in order to have a full circular shape. AUO leverages AMOLED's self-emissive nature and combines its self-developed driver circuit to achieve more than two times the duration of other smartwatches currently in the market under light mode, showing off its power-saving strength.

In addition to the 1.4-inch full circle AMOLED display, AUO has also presented 1.5 and 1.6-inch square AMOLED displays, and many other types of LCD products.

Also at SID, AU Optronics debuted its 6-inch UHD 4K (2160 x 3840) ultra high resolution smartphone display.
