New Discribe update supports 48x CD burners

Charismac Engineering has added support for 48x CD burners to its Discribe CD/DVD mastering software. The new version, Discribe 5.0.18, can be downloaded from the Charismac Web site. Discribe 5.0.18 is a universal CD mastering utility that supports more than 250 CD-R, CD-RW DVD-RW and DVD+RW mechanisms. The software supports formats including CD Extra, Hybrid, ISO-9660, track-at-once and disc-at-once audio. ATAPI, SCSI, FireWire and USB-based recorders are supported as well. The software is bundled with AudioScribe, a direct-to-disk recording utility that enables users to record vinyl, voice or tape in AIFF format, also.

Discribe runs natively in Mac OS X, and also supports Mac OS 9. A demo version limited to 5 burns is available for download. Discribe costs US$69.95. Users of Discribe versions prior to 5.0 and other maker's CD mastering software can upgrade for $29.96.
