Last month, Vodafone premiered the new Windows Mobile-based smartphone from Palm, Inc., the Treo 750v. Yesterday, Palm received the FCC approval it needs to introduce this smartphone. More About the Treo 750 Series This model is the first Windows Mobile Treo to use the GSM wireless standard, and it also offers support for 3G cellular-wireless networks. The 750 greatly resembles previous smartphones from Palm, but, unlike its predecessors, it does not need an external antenna. It has a square screen and the familiar Treo keyboard, with a 240-by-240-pixel touchscreen. It runs Window Mobile 5.2 for Pocket PC on a 300 MHz processor from Samsung. This device has 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM, about 60 MB of which is available to uses as non-volatile internal storage. A miniSD card slot provides additional storage. This quad-band GSM phone also supports GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS. Palm hasn't yet made an official announcement of this, but the word on the street is that a software upgrade will add HSDPA support. In addition, it includes Bluetooth 1.2, and give users the ability to use wireless stereo headsets. This Treo has a 1.3 megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom.
