Renesas Joins The Symbian Foundation
Renesas has joined the Symbian Foundation, bringing its mobile chipset technologies to the Symbian ecosystem.
The availability of Renesas chipsets that support the Symbian platform enables the company's OEMs to create Symbian-compliant devices that fully meet the needs of network operators, accelerating the adoption of Symbian around the world.
Renesas has been providing mobile chipset platforms for NTT DOCOMO's FOMA MOAP (S) Symbian-based smartphones.
Renesas has joined the Symbian Foundation to proactively participate within the open source ecosystem and to drive innovation centred on the combination of Renesas' next-generation multi-core CPU technology and multimedia and graphics capabilities provided by the Symbian platform. Renesas also intends to contribute to the development of the Symbian Hardware Abstraction Interface (SHAI), which will make hardware adaptation easier than ever before.
