Pioneer's portable DVD/CD/Video CD player goes anywhere...

General Interest Jul 29,2002 0

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., the recognized leader in industrial video/optical disc technology, today announced that it will begin shipping the PDV-LC20 portable DVD/CD/Video CD player in the United States, Canada and South America this month. The portable player supports playback of replicated DVD-Video discs, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-Audio and Video CD discs. The PDV-LC20 is the ideal device to use in conjunction with Pioneer's PRV-9000 Pro DVD-Video Recorder. DVD-RW discs created in the PRV-9000's Video Recording (VR) mode can be played back on the PDV-LC20 player, providing PRV-9000 users with a transportable and cost-effective playback solution for videos ranging from one to six hours in length.

The PDV-LC20 features all the amenities of a standard player in a compact portable unit. An ultra-thin lithium-ion battery included with the player provides playback of DVDs for up to three hours. Aimed at multiple markets and industries where playback compatibility, ease of use and mobility are critical, the PDV-LC20 is the ideal device for corporate presentations, business travelers, training and education.

The possibilities range from a business person watching DVD material while on a plane to corporate trainers and presenters creating DVD-RW discs with the PRV-9000 and then using the PDV-LC20 for playback in the field.

"Pioneer's PDV-LC20 addresses the need for portability and compatibility with incredible video resolution," said Linda Toleno, vice president of industrial video sales and marketing for Pioneer's Business Solutions Division. "Compact and lightweight, the PDV-LC20 can be taken anywhere there's a need for high quality DVD Video including business presentations and tradeshows."

Though it comes in a small package, the PDV-LC20 packs a big punch with quality and versatility comparable to its weightier set-top counterparts. Both the sound features and monitor provide excellent listening and viewing opportunities for users.

Equipped with a 96kHz/24-bit DAC, stereo speakers, Dolby Digital and DTS (Digital Theater Systems) digital outputs, the PDV-LC20 provides superior sound quality. Similarly, anti-glare and anti-reflection coatings on the LCD screen allow viewers to watch without annoying detractors from the superior picture quality of DVD.

The PDV-LC20 is a thin, lightweight and complete DVD playback and viewing solution. Weighing only one pound, four ounces and measuring 7-1/2 x 1-3/8 x 5-5/8 (W x H x D), the PDV-LC20 can be taken virtually anywhere. In addition, the 7-inch active matrix 16-to-9 LCD screen has the ability to flip the video image 180 degrees for ease of viewing up-close presentations.

For DVD-Video presentations to large audiences, the PDV-LC20 connects directly to any television or monitor with S-Video or composite inputs, giving users a portable DVD playback option that is more than just a "personal use" device.

Further highlighting its versatility, the PDV-LC20 is equipped with a high-speed charger, allowing users to charge the player quickly and easily at any time. To help extend playback time, the PDV-LC20 also has an automatic Power Off function that engages when the player is idle. The unit can also be operated via an included remote control, an ideal feature for group presentations and training sessions.

The PDV-LC20 can be purchased through Pioneer's Industrial Video Group's authorized dealer channel for a suggested price of $1,100.
