Pioneer Introduces The Ultra-thin BDR-XU02JM BDXL Burner For Macs

Pioneer Introduces The Ultra-thin BDR-XU02JM BDXL Burner For Macs

Optical Storage Mar 13,2013 0

Later this month Pioneer will release the BDR-XU02JM portable BDXL burner in Japan. The slim and lightweight drive has a slot-in disc loading mechanism and has been designed to complement the new MacBooks. The BDR-XU02JM can write single- and double-layer BD-R discs at speeds of up to 6X; triple- and quadruple-layer ones at 4X; BD-R (LtH) at 6X, single-, double-, and triple-layer BD-RE discs at 2X, DVDs up to 8X, and CDs up to 24X.

The drive measures 133 X 133 X 12mm (width X depth X height) and its weight is just 245g. It can be isntalled in both vertical and horizontal positions and can also be powered by its USB 2.0 interface.

Other features include a 4MB buffer, Pioneer's algorithms for accurate reproduction of scratched audio discs (PureRead2+) complemented with the "RealTime PureRead", which reduces the amount of the interpolated data during playback of audio CDs. The drive also supports the "USB Boot" function for emergency system recovery of the Mac systems.

The BDR-XU02JM is slated for later this month, beginning with the Japanese market priced at about 20,000 Yen ($209).
