- Writing Performance

Now we will check the burning performance with DVD media. Below, the available writing speeds can be seen, as given by Nero Burning Rom.

By using Nero CDSpeed with DVD-R and DVD+R media, we are able to see the 16X, 12X, 8X and 6X writing strategies.

- DVD+R media @ 16X CAV

- DVD-R media @ 16X CAV

Because of the CAV writing strategy as we can see here from Nero CDSpeed, the recording times should be good...

- Burning Tests

DVD-R media

Very stable performance from the LiteOn burner. It managed to burn all media at their certified speed, all with similar times. For 16X burning with DVD-R discs, you'll need under 6 minutes which makes the SHW-16H5S quite fast. Some overspeeding though, with certain media would be welcomed.

DVD+R media

Once more, the writing performance of the SHW-16H5S with DVD+R media was stable, but no overspeeding. Close to 6 minutes for a 16X burn.

- Comparison with other drives

The graphs speak for themselves. The lower, the better...

- DVD Overburning Tests

The SHW-16H5S failed to overburn with both the DVD-R and DVD+R formats.
