LightScribe and RAM-compatibility for the new Lite-On SHM-165H6S
Lite-On IT will introduce the new SHM-165H6Sa, a new 16x internal DVD drive to the market in August.
The drive features both LightScribe direct disc labeling and DVD-RAM compatibility.
Writing speeds of 16x can be reached for DVD±R. For Double Layer discs, there is a maximum writing speed of 8x, while Dual Layer discs can be written at 4x. For DVD-RAM 5x can be achieved by the SHM-165H6S. The drive rewrites DVD+RW media at 8x and DVD-RW at 6x.
The SHM-165H6S is the next drive in the line of Lite-On Super AllWrite drives. Super AllWrite is the term that Lite-On uses to emphasize the drives compatibility with all possible media: DVD±R(W) (DL), DVD-RAM and CD-R(W). This makes it the perfect solution for all optical storage requests.
LightScribe is an innovative technology that uses a special disc drive, special media, and label-making software to burn labels directly onto the surface of a CD or DVD in a very easy way: BURN the data, FLIP the disc and BURN the label. Because the labels are laser-etched (not printed), theres no ink, no smudging and no peeling.
