- Retail package
Foxconn sent us the retail version of the Foxconn GeForce 7900GS with the codename FV-N79SM2D2. The card can be found at a retail price of US$190~$200. Prices may vary depending on your location.
The retail package didn't include any games, just the bare necessities:
- A 7900GS card
- 2x DVI-DSub15 Dongle
- A power cable converter for PCI-E
- A S-Video to Composite Cable
- Software CD with drivers
- Software CD with RestoreIT v7.0 & VirtualDrivePro v10.0
- Bundled USB 3D GamePad
The card is mid-sized, so it will fit comfortably in a mid ATX box. The card needs a PCI-E power connection in order to operate. Remember, you need at least a 600W SLI certified PSU if you decide to go SLI. The card offers two (x2) DVI-D outputs and one S-Video output.
Looking at the layout of the card, we mainly notice a not so big heatsink and fan, the heatsink made of copper. The cooling seems to work fine, providing adequate cooling while at the same time keeping noise levels at acceptable levels.
Foxconn has included in the retail box, a useful USB 3D gamepad:
The memory is clocked at 660MHz, while the GPU at only 450MHz. The 7900GS series uses Hynix memory modules (700Mhz rated) , so we can expect good overclocking possibilities:
