Crucial continues to improve their memory series and the already tested "PRO" versions now can real up to 6400MB/sec, with CL38 at 1.35V. That boost comes to produce higher performance, and today we will test with the AM5 platform the DDR5 Pro OC memory 6400MT/s 2x16GB kit

The new series promises to deliver higher performance, lower latencies, and better bandwidth to fuel gaming wins and reduce performance bottlenecks. All Crucial DDR5 DRAM modules are compatible with the latest DDR5 Intel and AMD CPUs and support both Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO specifications on every module, eliminating compatibility hassles.

The Crucial DDR5 Pro Memory: Overclocking Edition delivers:

  • 38-40-40-84 extended timings for 25% lower latency than Crucial DDR5 Pro Memory Plug and Play Edition
  • Elegant, origami-inspired aluminum heat spreader to complement a variety of gaming rigs
  • Higher frame rates for serious 1080p and 1440p resolution gaming on memory-intensive titles like Rainbow Six® Siege, Forza™ Horizon 4, Horizon Zero Dawn™, Cyberpunk 2077®, Hogwarts Legacy™, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered or Forespoken™
  • Universal compatibility with DDR5-based Intel Core 12th to 14th Gen desktop CPUs and AMD Ryzen 7000 to 8000G Series desktop CPUs

Additionally, Crucial has fine-tuned all XMP 3.0 and EXPO memory profiles to maximize CPU compatibility without compromising overclocking stability and performance. Activating one of these pre-tuned profiles is necessary to overclocking the CPU and memory and is the easiest way to achieve maximum performance.

Overclocking DDR5 Pro memory

Push performance to the next level with the blazing speed and massive bandwidth of Crucial® DDR5 Pro Memory: Overclocking Edition. Mobilize the power of low latency to beat the clock and fuel your next win instead of worrying about performance bottlenecks. Our powerful overclocking DDR5 Pro memory supports next-gen multi-core CPUs and features Intel® XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO™ support1 on every module.

Cool look and feel

Our overclocking DDR5 Pro memory features an aluminum heat spreader with a unique, origami-based design that is both cool to the touch and an aesthetic win for any rig.

Accelerated performance
for more wins

Since every millisecond gained in fast-paced gameplay means the difference between winning and losing, seize the advantage with 25% lower latency4 for higher frame rates per second.

Flexibility is our flex

By supporting both Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO1 on the same module, Crucial offers you ultimate flexibility with your build and a tactical advantage. Keep your options open by starting with Crucial DDR5 Pro for overclocking.

Intel and AMD compatible

Crucial DDR5 Pro Memory for overclocking is compatible2 with Intel® Core 12-14th Gen and AMD Ryzen™ 7000 series and higher desktop CPUs.

The DDR5-6400 2X16GB Kit Pro OC kit can be bought online at Crucial.com at the retail price of $127.99. Compared with the DDR5-6000 2x16GB which costs around $118.99 (a $96.99 drop from the official price) we have to wait to see if the increased price can be justified from the performance. If you are working with Photoshop and other "creator" software you should consider upgrading to 64GB. The Crucial DDR5-6400 Pro OC series only comes in one kit (2x16GB) and maybe we will see higher densities in 2025.

The retail package follows the traditional packing with a carton box and plastic blister package for transportation hazards. To remove the product you need to cut down the package, meaning you won't get a secondhand product if the retail package is in perfect shape.

The 32GB kit, includes 2x16GB modules that include matt finish aluminum heat spreaders, without any RGB love. All eight Micron 16Gbit memory chips are on one side of the PCB by a single-rank configuration. At the front, you will only find the Crucial/Micron logos

, while at the back, you will get the Crucial DDR5 Pro logo and product speed, cache latency, and serial number. Installing the modules at a DDR5-enabled motherboard is not hard, just keep in mind the side with the memory modules should look like the CPU cooler. The low-profile heatspreaders make the modules compliant with JEDEC specs and you can use those modules are any mini ATX system. The overall build quality is great and you cannot go wrong with Crucial, since it has been one of the biggest memory manufacturers for many years. Due to the high bus efficiency of DDR5 technology, you can expect efficiency improvements that provide 36% more system bandwidth than DDR4.
