Booking Holdings Pulls Out of Libra Association

Booking Holdings Inc. has been added to the list of companies withdrawing from participation in the Libra Association, the Facebook's controversial project to create a new cryptocurrency.

Recently, PayPal Holdings Inc., Stripe Inc., Visa Inc., Mastercard Inc., MercadoLibre Inc. and EBay Inc. also announced that they had left the project.

The plan has came under intense scrutiny from lawmakers and regulators who feared that Libra could be used for criminal purposes and undercut countries’ monetary policy, among other concerns.

Representatives for the Libra Association didn’t ppovide any comment.
