Chinese Xiaomi has not yet decided to bring its smartphones to the U.S. market, but continues to impress with high-end and still affordable devices, shch as the new Xiaomi Mi 4i. The new device is launching in India for 12,999 rupees (US$205) without a contract.

The midrange smartphone has a 5-inch, 1080 x 1920 pixel screen and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615, an octa-core processor with integrated support for LTE. It is powered by a large, 3,120mAh battery while its size and weight remain low, at 7.8 millimeters thick and 130 grams. The rest of the phone's specifications include a 13-megapixel camera on the back (Sony) and a 5-megapixel, wide-angle camera on the front, as well as 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM.

The smartphone's front camera has a two-tone flash and upgraded HDR (high dynamic range) imaging.

The Mi 4i run the MIUI 6.0 user interface on top of Android Lollipop.

The Mi 4i will go on sale in India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
