AT&T To Release Eight LTE Mobile Devices

AT&T announced plans to launch seven new smartphones and a tablet computer early this year for a new wireless network. The devices will run on AT&T's newest network which is based on a technology known as Long Term Evolution (LTE).

The product line-up will include the Samsung Galaxy Note, the Sony Xperia ion, the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD, the Samsung Exhilarate, the HTC TITAN II as well as the Lumnia 900, Nokia's first 4G LTE Windows Phone in the U.S.

The Samsung Galaxy Note is a 5.3-inch (Super AMOLED 1280x800) device combining the benefits of various mobile devices while maintaining smartphone portability. Galaxy Note also features the S Pen, an advanced pen input technology, featuring an array of qualities including pressure sensitivity, preciseness, speed and more. The Samsung Galaxy Note is planned for availability in AT&T stores and online in the coming weeks.

The Xperia ion is the first LTE smartphone from Sony and will it be available exclusively in the U.S. from AT&T in the second quarter. It features a 4.6-inch HD display (1280 X 720 pixels) and a new Fast Capture technology: the HD camera goes from standby mode to first shot in 1.5 seconds. Sony claims that images taken with the 12-megapixel rear camera are unmatched by any other Android smartphone. Additionally, both rear- and front-facing cameras deliver HD recording capabilities. The device is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and comes with an internal 16GB flash storage. Other feature include HD sharing through DLNA, HDMI and BRAVIA Sync. Xperia ion users will also have access to the Sony Entertainment Network and Music Unlimited services. The smartphone is launching on Android platform 2.3 (Gingerbread).

Planned for availability in the coming months, the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD features a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, as well as a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor.

Also planned for availability in the coming months, the Samsung Exhilarate is constructed from 80 percent recycled post-consumer materials and features eco modes and tools such as an Eco calendar and calculator. The Exhilarate also boasts a four-inch touchscreen Super AMOLED display, front and rear facing cameras, voice recognition and access to AT&T U-verse Live TV.

The HTC Titan II is coming to AT&T in the coming months. It sports the biggest touchscreen of any Windows Phone (4.7-inch WVGA). It also comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera (720p HD video), a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and it packs a 1.5 gigahertz Snapdragon processor.

Nokia's Lumnia 900 features an 8 MP F/2.2 camera with wide focal length 28mm optics and a 1830 mAh battery. There's a front facing F/2.4 camera for video calling as well with the built in Windows Phone 7 Tango video application. The smartphone is powered by a a 1.4 GHz MSM8x55 SoC. In addition the Lumia 900 includes a 4.3" Super AMOLED display.

AT&T also announced that it would sell Pantech Element, a waterproof tablet based on Google Android software with a smartphone, the Pantech Burst, for a combined price of $249.

Pantech Element runs on Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) and includes an 8-inch display, front and rear-facing cameras, and a pffers web browsing with full HTML and PC-like tabbed browsing.

Pantech Burst combines 4G LTE speeds, a 4-inch Super AMOLED display and Android functionality in a slim, affordable package ? $49.99 with a two-year contract. It will be available in two color choices, titanium or ruby red.
