"..I should mention that any 10k SCSI drives are really for the performance maniac, and my not be at home in the average user's system. For average users who are concerned about price a bit more than performance, you should probably stick to IDE.

Now that that is out of the way, LVD SCSI is a must have for the performance maniac like myself. While the Mako does not get our AGN gold award, it is still a damn good drive. We found the drive to be a tad bit slower, warmer, and louder than the Cheetah 18LP, but we were still left with a damn good impression of the drive.

The extra cache on the drive helps to make the drive a bit faster than those we compared to when performing heavy data transfer tasks. This makes the drive better suited to server based applications and more at home in the A/V users system than drives with standard 1MB cache. For the heavy A/V user, the Mako may actually be the smarter choice. In every day tasks, we would have to say that the Mako comes in a close second to the Cheetah 18LP.." NULL
