Waymo is Partnering with Lyft to Serve More Riders in Metro Phoenix

Enterprise & IT May 7,2019 0

Waymo is partnering with Lyft as the company is trying to attract more riders in Metro Phoenix to experience self-driving technology.

As a first step, Waymo will deploy 10 vehicles on Lyft over the next few months. Once Waymo vehicles are on the platform, Lyft users in the area will have the option to select a Waymo directly from the Lyft app for eligible rides.

Six months ago, Waymo launched Waymo One, the company's commercial self-driving ride-hailing service in the Metro Phoenix area.

"Waymo and Lyft share a commitment to make our roads safer and transportation more accessible, and John, Logan, and the entire Lyft team are fantastic partners for us as we continue to scale our business. We’re excited to collaborate with the Lyft team as we build the World’s Most Experienced Driver, bringing fully self-driving technology to the world to improve road safety and make it easier for people to get around," said John Krafcik, Waymo's CEO.
