Writing Quality Tests - 3T Jitter Tests
On an 80min 48X CD-R disc from Taiyo Yuden we burned the same AudioCD project at 4x, 12x, 16x and 32x. The 3T Pit & Land Jitter graphs are presented here.
- 3T Pit results
As we can easily conclude from the graphs shown above and below, the drive gives low jitter values for 12x, 16x, 32x speeds. At 4x, the jitter level is constantly above 35ns, the Red Book limit.
The average 3T Pit Jitter values for all recording speeds are illustrated in the following table.
The average Pit jitter for recording speeds of 12x and over is acceptable, and very good for those below.
- 3T Land results
The land jitter levels illustrated in the graph above, are very good for all speeds except for 4x, as was the case with pit jitter.
The following average values graph confirms the very good burning quality of the Toshiba recorder.

- Summary
Toshiba is a very good recorder, at least with Taiyo Yuden media. Avoid using the 4x writing speed which had increased jitter levels. In the following page we test the drive's writing quality with other media brands.
