Here we test the performance / compatibility of the DH310S with various video and audio files. Keep in mind that the DH310S has an 1.4a HDMI interface, so is you cannot passthrough 4k@60Hz or ant HDR content.

For the Audio/Video tests we used the following setup:

TV: Samsung 75NU8000 series with the latest firmware installed
A/V Receiver: Yamaha RX-V775 (7.2 capable)
with the latest firmware installed
Wifi Router: TP-Link VR200 (802ac,b,g,n) with the latest firmware installed

The audio and video files for the tests are available at KODI Wiki. We connected the Shuttle DH310S though an HDMI cable to the A/V receiver, and used the LibreELEC platform that supports 4K and HD audio passthrough. A similar performance is expected under Windows using other players (VLC, KLiteCodec, etc..)

The combination of the Shuttle DH310S/Intel Pentium Gold G5400 seems be a good one for A/V use. We got up to 7.1 surround sound without any issues.

In the video bitrate tests, we managed to playback up to 400Mbit H265 files stored in an external USB3.0 SSD. If your source files are coming though LAN (1Gbit) or Wifi (802ac), you should expect a lower performance.

The 4K x264 tests were generally smooth, besides some issues with variable FPS content.

The more demanding 4K H265 content was also generally playable. Reproduction of 4K x265 HEVC 10bit files was also good.

Overall, the Shuttle DH310S delivered a solid A/V performance.
