Pioneer Introduces New BD-Live Blu-ray Disc Players

Pioneer Introduces New BD-Live Blu-ray Disc Players

Consumer Electronics Apr 20,2010 0

Pioneer will start selling its new BDP-LX53 and BDP-330 Blu-ray disc players this summer. Among the basic features of the players is a free application that turns an iPhone or an iPod touch into a fully functioning remote control for both devices. In addition to an Ethernet port for regular wired integration, both new models can connect to the internet through a wireless home network via an optional Pioneer wireless LAN adapter.

Access to online sources enables downloading and streaming of BD-Live content. Through the familiar user interface of the player, you can now also read selected RSS feeds and even enjoy YouTube video browsing on a connected TV.

A web update service can automatically inform you about the availability of firmware updates to keep your device up-to-date with the latest features.

Pioneer has released a free application that turns an iPhone and iPod touch into a fully functioning remote control for the BDP-LX53 as well as the BDP-330. When they are connected to an existing wireless router (via Ethernet or Wireless LAN), the application allows wireless control of playback and navigation functions.

The top-of-the-line BDP-LX53 features a rigid construction and while also doubling as a high-quality audio player. The integration of the finest audio parts lies at the heart of the BDP-LX53?s impressive sonic performance, which is enhanced by the player?s design. Built according to the 'Armoured Chassis Concept', the chassis of the BDP-LX53 is strengthened with a layered chassis armour and drive stabiliser which help to reduce vibration. Adding to the Blu-ray Disc player?s high-quality feel are gold-plated terminals, ice blue illumination and a hair-line front panel finish.

Thanks to on-board HD audio decoding, the BDP-LX53 and BDP-330 deliver the most advanced multi-channel audio available. Refined picture reproduction are complemented by digital audio formats DTS-HD Master Audio Essential and Dolby TrueHD, which both models can either output as native bitstream or decode internally and output as uncompressed multi-channel LPCM on HDMI.

The players come also equipped with the Pioneer's proprietary Precision Quartz Lock System (PQLS) that ensures jitterless transmission of uncompressed 2-channel or multi-channel LPCM and now also bitstream audio over HDMI to compatible Pioneer AV receivers. With PQLS, a compliant Pioneer Blu-ray Disc player and AV receiver cleverly synchronise both components? digital clocks for optimal digital audio playback.

The new Blu-ray Disc players include 1080p upscaling and handle 1080p 24 frames per second (fps) reproduction rate. Taking advantage of HDMI connectivity, they provide natural images and both support 36-bit Deep Colour, which improves subtle colour gradations.

With their Quick Start mode, the units can reduce power-on time, giving much quicker access to disc playback. In addition, a Skip Search/Replay function allows you to skip scenes or play back e.g. a missed dialogue, all at the push of a button.

Both models support control via HDMI (CEC) enabling easy operation of the player using the remote of a compliant TV or display. For custom installations, the BDP-LX53 includes an RS-232C port which allows management by external control systems.

The BDP-LX53 and BDP-330 are compatible with a wide range of formats including BD-ROM/RE/R, DVD Video, DVD-RW/R and audio CDs, as well as MP3 playback and incorporate a JPEG viewer for photo slideshows.

The black BDP-330 Blu-ray Disc player will be available as from June 2010, followed by the BDP-LX53 with hairline finish in July.
