LiteOn Releases Its First Blu-ray Disc Triple Writer

LiteOn Releases Its First Blu-ray Disc Triple Writer

Optical Storage Nov 28,2006 0

Liteon officially released today its first Serial ATA Blu-ray Disc Triple Writer, the LH-2B1S. Through next-generation blue laser technology, LH-2B1S can record up to 25GB data on one BD-R / BD-RE media. The writer is able to write BD-R media at 2X maximum, rewrite BD-RE media at 2X maximum, and read BD-ROM media at 2X. LH-2B1S can also provide High Definition entertainment for AV enthusiasts, allowing 1920x1080 High Definition BD movie reproduction on appropriate PC systems. As it has been widely dicsussed lately, high definition BD playback requires at least a Pentium D 3.4GHz CPU, 1GB of memory, an Nvidia GeForce 6600GT or ATI X1600 GPU or higher set on an HDCP graphics card, the latest Nvidia or ATI graphics drivers (HDCP-enabled) and of course, an HDCp capable monitor or TV.

LH-2B1S is also a High-Speed DVD & CD Writer. It can write DVD+R & DVD-R media at 12X, write DVD+R DL & DVD-R DL media at 4X, rewrite DVD+RW media at 8X, rewrite DVD-RW media at 6X, read DVD-ROM media at 12X, write CD-R media at 32X, rewrite Ultra-Speed CD-RW media at 24X, and read CD-ROM media at 32X.

The Lite-On LH-2B1S uses an Arima Optical Pick-up Unit (OPU) and a Philips DSP. It is built upon the BenQ-Philips technology. Bundled in the drive's retail package you can find 2x blanc BD-RE disc by TDK, a SATA data cable and Cyberlink's BD software suite for BD recording and authoring.

Built-in SMART-BURN technology provides buffer-under-run-free function for high-speed writing DVD+R / DVD+RW / DVD-R / DVD-RW / CD-R / CD-RW media.

The drive will retail early December at a suggested price of 790 Euros.
