First official DivX Video encoding application now available on www.divx.com

Optical Storage May 21,2003 0

With today's release of Dr. DivX™ video software, consumers around the world can quickly and easily create great-looking DivX® video files from virtually any source. Developed by the company that created the revolutionary, patent-pending DivX video compression technology, Dr. DivX is now available for purchase at www.divx.com/divx/drdivx. Dr. DivX was designed to enable anyone to create high-quality DivX video in three easy steps, turning a once cumbersome and time-consuming video encoding process into a quick and easy procedure. The first and only official DivX video encoding application, Dr. DivX easily converts almost any video format into great-looking DivX video for the highest visual quality at the greatest level of compression.

Dr. DivX accepts video input from a variety of sources including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DV, AVI, WMV, AVS and live capture from a capture card or webcam, and quickly converts these files into highly compressed DivX video. DivX is the world's leading MPEG-4 compatible video compression technology, providing DVD-quality at 1/10th the size of MPEG-2. By utilizing Dr. DivX to easily convert video files, consumers can free up hard drive space, improve visual quality, and easily transfer and share videos with friends and family through Internet or CD-ROM distribution.

Dr. DivX includes a number of advanced features previously only found in expensive, professional video software applications. Offering studio quality video encoding from the comforts of home, Dr. DivX automates high-end encoding features to create a DivX video file in just three easy steps where many competing encoding applications required over 40 steps and hours of work. The new application also offers full compliance with DivX Certified hardware profiles, ensuring that a file created with Dr. DivX will playback seamlessly in DivX Certified consumer electronics devices.

Dr. DivX, which includes the DivX Pro video codec, is available now for a one-time fee or a 15 day free trial period. Dr. DivX will soon be available in retail stores worldwide and bundled with major OEM hardware devices.
