It is well-known that the 16x Dual Mode / Double Layer (DL) DVD burner marks a barrier in the development of optical drives, and that it will take a while before the Blue Ray optical drives will reach a mature stage. Today, AOpen announced that AOpen will be the first vendor to mass-produce the 16x dual mode / dual layer DVD burner. According to the company, the 16x AOpen Dual Mode / Double Layer (DL) DVD burner will be a 100% AOpen design and production, with samples of the pilot run being available in the first week of July and mass production starting mid July.
