Apple Said to Have Started Production of AirPower

Apple Said to Have Started Production of AirPower

Gadgets Jan 12,2019 0

The launch of the much-delayed Apple AirPower wireless charging accessory may be near, according to a report.

A Twitter account by the name of ChargerLab claimed that Apple’s production partner Luxshare Precision has started producing the new AirPower. Luxshare Precision already makes the company’s popular AirPods, and Pegatron, another popular OEM, will reportedly start production of the AirPower from January 21. The report goes even further, quoting a Pegatron employee as saying that the the AirPower "has total three layers of coils in 8-7-7 configuration from bottom to top."

It’s possible that Apple will take the opportunity to upgrade its AirPods at the same time, by more than just the case. In which case, they may be called AirPods 2 if, as rumored, they include an improved processor which enables hands-free Siri activation.

AirPower was announced by Apple during Septenber's iPhone X press event. AirPower is a charging mat capable of wirelessly charging multiple devices at once.

Apple never really announced an official release date for the AirPower, though the company was originally hoping to launch the device sometime by June 2018. That did not happen due to technical hurdles in the development process.

If the reports are to be believed, the official release of the AirPower should not be too far away.
