Google's Pixel C Tablet Now Available

Google's Pixel C Tablet Now Available

PC components Dec 8,2015 0

Google's Pixel C Android tablet is now available on the Google Store, starting at $499. As Google previewed two months ago, Pixel C brings together the benefits of a full-size keyboard with the portability of a tablet.

The device features a 10.2" LTPS display. With a 2560x1800 resolution and 500 nits of brightness, it should look great. Its pixel density (308 pixels per inch) beats the 8.9-inch, 2048x1536 Nexus 9 (281 ppi); the 9.7-inch, 2048x1536 iPad Air 2 (264 ppi); and the 12.3-inch, 2736x1824 Surface Pro 4 (267 ppi).

The tablet has also stereo speakers, an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera and a $149 keyboard, which is designed to fit with the tablet. It attaches with magnets, and automatically connects via bluetooth. When the tablet and keyboard are closed together, the keyboard charges wirelessly and automatically. And when you don’t need to type, the keyboard tucks behind the tablet with magnets - out of the way but close by for when you need it.

This is the first tablet designed with Android 6.0, Marshmallow in mind. You get security benefits, smarter and longer battery life (10+ hours) and Now on Tap at your fingertips.

The Pixel C packs an Nvidia Tegra X1 chip, which integrates a GPU based on the Maxwell architecture. There’s also 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM.

Like Google’s Chromebook, the Pixel C has a lightbar at the top of its aluminum backside.
