NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Now Available

NVIDIA SHIELD, a premium 4K-capable over-the-top set-top box with a powerful graphics engine, is now available, signalling Nvidia's Nvidia's efforts to enter the living room with an entertainment device. NVIDIA SHIELD lets you play movies, TV shows, music, a world of apps and, of course, games.

The device is powered the powerful Tegra X1 processor, which packs 256-core NVIDIA GPU and a 64-bit CPU, allowing for seamless playback of 4K video.

With SHIELD, you'll be able to watch 4K movies and shows from Netflix HD, YouTube and new apps like Pluto TV and UltraFlix. You can view your own personal 4K content from camcorders and GoPro cameras. Or cut the cord with Sling TV. And you?ll soon get access to new video and viewing apps, like HBO Now, the Fox and CBS family of apps and Vimeo coming to Android TV.

In addition, there are over 200 games on Android TV, and almost 20 titles are coming only to NVIDIA SHIELD within a few months of launch. And Nvidia also just launched its 1080p worldwide GRID game-streaming service.

NVIDIA SHIELD launches today in the U.S. and Canada in two versions: SHIELD ($199.99) and SHIELD Pro ($299.99), which comes with an integrated 500 GB HD and bundled with Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! game. SHIELD also supports accessories - a remote control with voice search for $49.99, a stand for $29.99 and additional controllers for $59.99 each.
