Sanyo leads the writing race with CRD-BP1600P (32/10/40)

Sanyo plans to release the faster ever CD-RW drive with the codename "CRD-BP1600P". This is the first recorder that will support up to 32x writing speed! The main recording technology used is Z-CLV (Zone CLV) and this time the attached buffer has been increased up to 4MB. The drive will hit the market at end of November 2001. As the current information says, no SD2 support for the new model also :(

There is a question about the availability of certified 32x media... Ritek has already announced 32x CD-R media and other manufacturers will surely follow. Who said that your 24x recorder is fast enough? :-) Product Features:
