Sony is trying to make it up for you all who could not use the PS Network during Chirstmas, due to denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks to Sony's servers. Sony is offering all PlayStation Plus members that had an active membership or free trial on December 25th, a membership extension of five days. The extension will be automatically applied.

In addition, sometime this month Sony will announce that for a limited time a 10 percent discount code good for an one-time discount off a total cart purchase in the PlayStation Store.

This discount can be used toward content available on PS Store including new releases, indie games, game add-ons and season passes, and a selection of TV and Movies.

Sony has said that the recenty network outages were the result of an attack creating "artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay."

The DDoS attacks, which also took down Microsoft?s Xbox Live game network, were apparently launched by hacker group Lizard Squad, which later took aim at anonymous network Tor.

Two people believed to have links to Lizard Squad were arrested this week by British and Finnish authorities, who also confiscated computers and other equipment.
