New Dell PCs Come With Sleek Lines

Dell has started selling the XPS 13, the company's MacBook Air rival, along with the the XPS 11, a potential Air challenger. The XPS 11 and XPS 13 with touch and the Dell Wyse PocketCloud app are now available for sale on Dell.com in the United States and in select countries around the world. These systems feature machined aluminum, carbon fiber and Corning Gorilla Glass NBT to help minimize scratches and streaks on their screens.

With the highest resolution display (Quad HD, 2560 x 1440) on an 11.6-inch 2-in 1, the XPS 11 is featuring a 360-degree rotating hinge design. The XPS 11 starts at $999.99 USD.

The XPS 13 Ultrabook has a 13.3-inch, edge-to-edge display that fits into a footprint similar to an 11-inch laptop, is thin and light with a weight of less than 3lbs. It is built for mobility and performance with longer battery life than the previous generation, a touch screen option, 4th generation (Haswell) Intel Core processors, and Intel HD 4400 graphics. The XPS 13 starts at $999.99 USD.

Dell has also made available the Dell Precision M3800 15-inch mobile workstation. Starting at $1,799 USD, the workstation is less than three-quarters of an inch thin (18 mm) and it is starting at 4.15 pounds (1.88 kgs).

It is loaded with up to 16GB of memory, a 4th-generation Intel Core i7-4702HQ 8 threaded quad-core processor with up to 3.2 GHz clock speeds.

The workstation is also packed with NVIDIA Quadro K1100M graphics with 2GB of dedicated memory. It also includes dual-cooling and more than 10 hours of battery life with NVIDIA Optimus technology.

In addition to these newly available products, Dell announced a new OptiPlex desktop solution for its business customers.

The globally available new OptiPlex 3020 desktop provides performance and security in a budget-friendly package, starting at $499 USD.

It supports TPM and Dell Data Protection solutions and it's available with Dell Data Protection Encryption for authentication and malware prevention.

The new desktop packs essential computing power with up to Intel i5 Core Processors, Intel HD Graphics 4600 and dual monitor capabilities .

The OptiPlex 3020 also offers manageability through with Microsoft System Center and Dell KACE. Dell automated tools and utilities streamline deployment, monitoring and updates of the OptiPlex systems.

Dell also last week released the Linux-based new XPS 13 Developer Edition laptop running Ubuntu. Codenamed Sputnik 3, the device runs Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and features a 13.3-inch (1920 x 1080) LED-backlit touch display, an Intel Haswell processor (Core i5-4200U or i7-4500U), 8 GB of RAM, Intel HD 4400 graphics, a 128/256 GB mSATA solid state drive, a keyboard, an HD webcam, Bluetooth, 802.11ac WiFi, and a 55WHr battery.

The XPS 13 Developer Edition is currently only available in the US (starting at $1,249) and will also go on sale in Canada and Europe soon.
