Philips and Roxio join forces to prevent Buffer-Underrun

General Interest Mar 28,2001 0

"...Roxio and Philips Electronics today announced that Philips will ship its new high performance drives with Easy CD Creator and DirectCD, including the enhanced Roxio PureBurn CD-Recording engine.

"Roxio has worked closely with Philips to enhance its buffer management techniques in Easy CD Creator to prevent buffer underruns in the high performance drives from Philips. The new burn engine in Easy CD Creator will significantly reduce a common user problem in high speed CD recording" said Tom Shea, Chief Operating Officer of Roxio, Inc."

"Philips is committed to continual improvements in the ease-of-use and robustness of CD-Recording. Philips values the close co-operation with Roxio. Roxio's PureBurn engine fits exactly with Philips' strategy to make the CD writer 'intelligent' and thereby take the burden away from the end-user. Our 'intelligent' drives, featuring TBW (Thermal-Balanced Writing) technology, match the excellent Roxio PureBurn engine to yield the optimal solution in CD Recording." said Lucien Bertotti, Product Manager for Philips Consumer Electronics..."
