Sony plans to release a new PS3 firmware update (v2.52) this week. The update improves the playback quality of some PS3 format software and adressed a text entry issue that occurs when using the on-screen keyboard, USB keyboard or Bluetooth keyboard with some PS3 format software.

Sony Computer Entertainment of America also today announced the release of its SingStar holiday line-up for the PLAYSTATION 3 and the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment systems.

SingStar places family and friends center stage with SingStar Vol. 2 for the PS3 system and SingStar Country and SingStar Legends for the PlayStation 2 system.

SingStar ABBA also will be available to SingStar fans for both the PlayStation 2 and PS3 systems on December 2.

All SingStar titles will be available either as a stand-alone disc or packaged with two USB microphones.
