StarForce Not Investigated by FutureMark

StarForce Not Investigated by FutureMark

Optical Storage Apr 3,2006 0

FutureMark announced last week that it has never investigated, researched or uncovered something about the StarForce software protection technology, discarding rumors circulating in online forums. Last week, comments appeared in web discussion boards claimed that FutureMark did some tests on StarForce license protection systems and found out that the StarForce content protection software was installing a suspicious driver on PCs, which runs all of the time regardless of whether or not someone is playing a game protected by the Starforce technology.

According to FutureMark, all the recent news and discussions claiming FutureMark would have done any kind of research into StarForce are based solely on threads and posts posted by individual users on FutureMark's public discussion boards.

"FutureMark as a company has not done any investigations, research or uncovered anything in regards to StarForce," the company's announcement reads.

FutureMark also added that the material found on the company's online discussion boards is published "as is", and does not represent the official views and opinions of FutureMark Corporation.

StarForce commented that the issue was quickly picked up by many online resources, although it had not been checked for authenticity.
