Microsoft announced that consumers should upgrade the drivers of their ATI 512 MB graphics cards to avoid possible "hanging" of their WindowsXP 64-bit eddition OS. According to the announcement, the problem ocurrs in cases where the total memory installed on a PC running XP Professional x64 Edition is less than 512MB.

The cards affected by this GPU and OS memory conflict are the following:

- RADEON 9000/9200/9500/9600/9700/9800 series
- X300/X700/X800 series
- FireGL series

According to Microsoft, consumers should upgrade to the latest GPU drivers. More information is available at Microsoft's Support page (Japanese).
