Toshiba Releases New Pocket Sized 1TB HDDs
Toshiba today announced a new external hard disk drive with a capacity of up to 1 terabyte. The drive will be available in the U.S. and Europe under the "CANVIO Plus" and "STOR.E ART3" model names, respectively.
The STOR.E ART3 will be available during the second quarter 2010 in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The CANVIO Plus portable hard drives are available now at ToshibaDirect.com.
The new product line comes in two colours and with two different storage capacities: a model comes in Raven Black and offers 1 terabyte, a Liquid Blue version offers a capacity of 750 gigabyte. With its extremely small dimensions and weighing only 170 grams, the new drive is highly portable and even fits into the smallest of pockets.
The new HDDs are easy-to-use with a simple plug-and-play operation for beginners and offers customisable options for tech-savvy users. With an easy setup process and "set-it-and-forget-it" operation, the drives can automatically and regularly backup computer files while in use. They are bundled with the Windows-based NTI BackupNow EZ software, upgraded with advanced search capabilities and simpler step-by-step restore functionality, to retrieve lost files. For advanced users, the drives offer many customisation features including extensive back-up options, advanced restore functionalities and an ability to overwrite specific original files. They also provide an option for complete system backup, enabling users to restore selected files or the entire computer, even if Windows is unable to start.
