TEAC presents the 52x IDE CD-ROM drive!

TEAC presents the 52x IDE CD-ROM drive!

General Interest Jun 12,2002 0

The TEAC CD-552E 52x drive transfers data at a speed of up to 7.8 MB/s and, with an average access time of approx. 120 ms, proves itself to be a powerful assistant in the daily use of CD-ROM data. In comparison with 40x drives, the new drive provides a speed advantage when using many applications. With regard to image editing, database searches or software installation, for example, clear differences can be achieved. In this way, waiting times are once again reduced using the 52x drive. Two different sizes of CD-ROMs can be inserted into the drive. On the one hand, the customary size of a 12-cm diameter and the somewhat smaller pendant on the other hand, with a diameter of 8 cm.

The drive is specified in accordance with ISO 9660 ("Yellow Book" and "Red Book Audio"). All current formats, such as CD-DA, CD-ROM mode 1, CD-ROM XA (mode 2, form 1 & 2), Video-CD, CD-PLUS, UDF, I-Trax, CD-I (mode 2, form 1 & 2), Photo CD (single & multisession) and, of course, CD-R and CD-RW are supported.

As is standard with TEAC drives, the 52x drive also has a motor-controlled loading mechanism ("motorized tray"), which accepts and ejects the CD at the press of a button. The drive is robust and solid - No problems arise at all, even with regard to more testing requirements. TEAC obviously also provides a 2-year guarantee for this drive.
